KinderGym and PreGym
Our KinderGym program at Tea Tree Gully Gymsports, provides a fun, safe, and stimulating environment where children and their caregivers can explore, play, and grow together. Our program is designed to challenge children with a variety of physical activities, helping them develop key skills while having heaps of fun!
Children learn best through play—whether by overcoming challenges or watching and interacting with others of different ages and abilities. Caregivers play an essential role at KinderGym as both a playmate and a role model offering guidance, encouragement, and creative ideas. Your involvement throughout the session helps foster your child’s confidence and growth.
Our sensory activities are a highlight of the program, encouraging young children to explore new textures, sounds, and sensations while supporting brain development and learning. These activities help boost motor skills, language, communication, and social skills, while also promoting cognitive growth. Plus, sensory play can help calm anxiety and frustration, making KinderGym a great place for kids to feel relaxed and empowered.
With a variety of KinderGym programs to suit different needs, stages and ages, there’s something for everyone at Tea Tree Gully Gymsports.
Come join us and watch your child develop vital skills in a fun, supportive, and exciting environment!
Baby KinderGym (age 6 mths – under 2 years)
Our Baby Sessions at Tea Tree Gully KinderGym are the perfect way to introduce your little one (and you!) to our fun and supportive environment. These gentle, unhurried sessions are designed specifically for children under 2, allowing them to explore at their own pace without the distractions of older children. It’s a wonderful opportunity for your baby to develop key physical, cognitive, and social skills in a relaxed setting.
Each session includes a warm-up with our colourful parachute, free play on our huge range of equipment – including foam pit, trampolines and KinderGym specific equipment; and group time focused on sensory play.
Sensory activities help your baby explore new textures, sounds, and sensations, supporting brain development and early learning in a safe, exciting way. Through sensory play, babies can strengthen motor skills, build social and communication abilities, and foster cognitive growth—all while having fun! These activities can also help ease anxiety and frustration, promoting calmness and relaxation.
As KinderGym is a movement-based program, we recommend waiting until your baby is mobile (at least crawling) before joining in the fun. Come along and watch your baby grow, learn, and explore in a nurturing, engaging environment!
General KinderGym (6 months – 5 years)
Get ready for endless fun and excitement at our General KinderGym sessions! Each session kicks off with a lively warm-up using our colourful parachute, followed by free play on all our awesome equipment, including trampolines, large foam pit, beams, bars, mats, and so much more! Plus, we switch up the set-up every two weeks to keep things fresh and exciting.
The best part? These sessions help kids build body awareness, improve their physical skills, and boost their social confidence while having a great time! We wrap up every session with fun group activities that get everyone moving to music, making every class a chance to learn, grow, and have fun together! Come join us and watch your child’s confidence soar!
TTG KinderGym Explorers (aged 1-5)
At Tea Tree Gully KinderGym, we believe every child should have the opportunity to thrive in a space that feels comfortable and supportive. Our Explorers program offers a smaller, quieter session designed specifically for children under 5 who may have developmental delays, sensory sensitivities, or find a full hour session a little too long. It is also ideal for caregivers who prefer a more relaxed, less crowded environment.
Our Explorers classes are attended by a Physiotherapist from Early Start Australia, offering expert advice, support and guidance.
Children are encouraged to explore the gym and their own abilities at their own pace, with reduced lighting and quieter music to create a calming atmosphere.
Our goal is to help both children and caregivers feel confident, empowered, and excited to continue discovering new skills in a nurturing space. It’s the perfect opportunity for your child to grow, learn, and have fun in a way that suits their individual needs.
Junior PreGym (aged 3 years)
Our Junior PreGym sessions are 45 minute classes for children aged 3 who are ready for a little more structure out of their KinderGym experience. Children must have turned 3 years before starting our Junior PreGym class.
During our Junior PreGym classes, we introduce the children to our Gymnastics apparatus, teach them basic gymnastics skills and shapes that are age and stage appropriate. The class involves direction and following instruction while learning in a fun, safe environment.
It is important that children learn these skills in a safe, controlled environment with accredited coaches and their caregiver to reduce the risk of injury. We understand that young children often want to try different skills that they may have seen others doing however due to their age and muscle development they may not be physically ready to attempt these skills and in doing so may increase the risk of injury.
Recent previous attendance at Tea Tree Gully KinderGym is highly recommended before enrolling in a Junior PreGym class. Our facility is much larger than most other KinderGyms with a lot of gymnastics equipment and we have found that children adapt to the structured format much easier when they are already familiar with the equipment and the environment.
A parent / carer stays with the child at all times to offer hands on assistance when required.
We take new enrolments in our Junior Pre-Gym Classes up until Week 6 of the term.
PreGym (age 4-5 years)
Before enrolling in a PreGym class children must have completed a recent term of either a Junior PreGym class or a General KinderGym class at Tea Tree Gully KinderGym. This helps children become familiar with the equipment and our environment before attending a session without their caregiver being in the gym with them.
Our PreGym class is a structured Gymnastics class where children are introduced to basic Gymnastics skills including shapes, jumping, landings, trampolining and tumbling.
During the session, our coaches teach basic gymnastics skills that help develop strength and coordination in a fun, structured environment. Children learn and develop around 15 skills each term as well as learning to listen, take instructions and work more independently. These skills give children a great “head start” for many other activities that they may go into as they get older including dance, soccer, football and of course gymnastics!
It is important that children learn these skills in a safe, controlled environment with accredited coaches to reduce the risk of injury. We understand that young children often want to try different skills that they may have seen others doing however due to their age and muscle development they may not be physically ready to attempt these skills and in doing so may increase the risk of injury.
Parents or carers do not come into the gym with their child during their PreGym class however they are required to be accessible to their child at all times by waiting in our foyer area.
For those children who prefer to have their parent with them in the Gym our Junior PreGym class may be more suitable.
We take new enrolments in our Pre-Gym Classes up until Week 6 of the term.
Our KinderGym programs are all fantastic pathways leading to our other Gymsports including Gym for all, Tumbling Gymnastics, Trampoline Gymnastics, Women’s and Men’s Gymnastics. Please speak to your KinderGym leader or our member service team for more information on any of these sports.
